I loved this, I played it for the 7th grade as a perfect illustration of irony, a type of figurative language we've been studying.

thanks for all you do

Your conversation with the parents is a great idea! This is just one more way that, we as librarians, can use social networking to communicate with the parents and educate the parents in ways to teach their children to love reading.

Ann,

What a great resource and strategy that you are implementing and using at Fairview! Great information. Encouragement is a great tool to prmote collaboration. I am looking at pursuing library media, and your site provides some great information and thought-prooking questions. Thanks Ann.

Thanks for the information Ann. I find this information and weblog very interesting and look forward to using it as I work with children and families of children with special needs. We always need to look at the child first, and poetry is a great outlet and tool. Thanks!

The Reading Rockets site is loaded with great information for parents and teachers. Also helpful is the PBS site: www.pbs.org
Among other things, you can hear clips of readers from kindergarten to 3rd grade. Check it out.

What a great use of a weblog. I find the information here informative and thought-provoking. This should be an inspiration for Library Media Specialists and other school leaders to open a forum for discussion. I know in our school people are always looking for an avenue to share thoughts and ideas, and this could definitiely be a model to follow. I look forward to following the conversations of the Fairview Staff, and hopefully participating in some of the discussions.

Were you able to use the "READ" posters program? How easy? Do you recommend it to other elementary school libraries?
